Key forum to celebrate vital role of women in green energy sector

In acknowledgment of the increasingly prominent role women are playing in the global green energy industry, an exclusive event, the “Women in Future Energies” dinner forum, will take place on December 11, 2023, at the Kempinski Hotel Muscat.

This groundbreaking event, a first-of-its-kind in Oman’s green energy landscape, will be a highlight of the Green Hydrogen Summit Oman (GHSO) Conference and Exhibition occurring at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat from December 12 to 15, 2023. Organized by Birba, Oman’s energy-focused event planner, GHSO 2023 enjoys the support of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and the Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit.

Around 100 women leaders, representing the forefront of the decarbonization and green energy sectors in Oman and the broader region, will partake in this dinner forum.

An advisory panel oversees the planning of this impactful event, featuring notable figures such as Monica Trench, who leads bp’s Hydrogen Business in Oman; Salima al Masrouri, External Communications and Campaigns Manager at Oman Shell; Rumaitha al Busaidi, Business Development Manager at Hydrom; Nuhaila al Rawahi, Diversity and Inclusion Lead at PDO; Dr. Sausan Al Riyami, Director of the Oman Hydrogen Center; Michelle Li, Founder of Clever Carbon; and Vivian Wood, Executive Producer at Birba.

The “Women in Future Energies” forum offers participants the opportunity to network, exchange stories, and share ideas on their involvement in future energy endeavors.

The evening’s program includes two panel discussions that will delve into the presence and impact of women in the renewable energy sector and the opportunities available to them in this rapidly evolving industry. The panelists will also be invited to express their viewpoints on the role of women in propelling the energy transition, addressing climate change, and promoting sustainable practices.

“Women possess unique knowledge, skills, and perspectives that can contribute significantly to the development of a sustainable energy industry for the future. Recognizing this, GHSO aims to amplify women’s voices and leadership in the transition to clean energy. Women have a pivotal role in driving innovative solutions for the energy sector. By nurturing a pipeline of women leaders, ‘Women in Future Energies’ aims to foster inclusive and sustainable development, inviting women to unite for our shared future,” the organizers said in a statement.
