Oman’s green hydrogen workshop spotlights energy sustainability

The 18th International Conference on “Hydrogen Power Theoretical & Engineering Solutions International Symposium: (Hypothesis XVIII)” opened at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) on October 23, 2023.

 

An integral component of this 3-day conference is a workshop that seeks to increase awareness and understanding of hydrogen technologies. Collaborating in the organization of this workshop are the College of Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University, the Center for Sustainable Energy Research, the Magal Energy and Energy Efficiency Center, and Erbrena Platform.

 

The overarching objective of this training workshop is to demystify the world of hydrogen and accentuate the significance of green hydrogen projects within Oman. The workshop’s agenda is a comprehensive exploration of various key facets of hydrogen energy.

 

It encompasses an introduction to hydrogen energy, including its role in the future energy landscape and global energy transition. Participants will delve into the intricacies of hydrogen production, encompassing diverse techniques and processes that underpin the creation of this clean energy source. The pivotal role played by renewable energy sources in generating green hydrogen will be highlighted, showcasing the sustainable aspects of this energy.

 

A look into the myriad applications of hydrogen, extending beyond vehicular power, will showcase its versatility. Efficient storage, a cornerstone challenge in the hydrogen industry, will be explained, shedding light on various storage methods and technologies. Participants will explore the safe and efficient transportation of hydrogen, considering various methods employed for its movement. The workshop will also cover the rising technologies of fuel cells and electric vehicles and their significance in the hydrogen economy.
