The Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) administration has completed the procedures to implement the Council of Ministers’ decision to develop, execute and supervise municipal services and public facilities in the old Sayy commercial district, among other areas where their public utility status has been lifted and incorporated into the zone’s general scheme.
The administration started providing municipal licensing services, technical affairs services, as well as training staff to provide these services in conjunction with the completion until fully outfitting a specific office to handle municipal services in the Sayy commercial district.
Tatweer, acting on behalf of the SEZAD administration, has started preparing roads, opening corridors, cleaning certain sites, and putting up directional signs in addition to working to assess the current state of services in schemes whose public utility status was lifted.
The total area of the schemes whose public utility status was lifted within SEZAD scheme is 33 square kilometers, distributed over 9 different schemes, including the old Sayy commercial district scheme. A number of industrial, commercial, commercial/residential, and residential uses are covered under the scheme.
Numerous infrastructure projects that match the goals of residents and investors are being implemented in SEZAD. A variety of investment areas in the fields of real estate development, renewable energy, logistics, tourism, and industry are included in the zone.
